Good, Good Father

Isn’t it amazing that God knows everything about each of us, good and bad, and chooses to love us anyway? Sometimes that may seem scary, because we know we are full of sin and he is perfect and righteous. But that’s why he sent Jesus to die for each of us, so we can have our ruined relationship restored.

How wonderful to know we are not strangers to him. He knows our every hope and longing. He knows our hurts and fears. We are not alone, we always have a Friend, Father and Comforter. No need to ever feel alone in a crowd, or abandoned or rejected.

I also really appreciate the fact that I don’t have to DO anything for God to love me. I don’t have to perform, or impress, or hide…I can just exist. Little ol’ me, resting in the presence of the almighty, holy God of the universe. And he’s not nit-picking at me or shaking his head in disappointment. He just loves me and pursues me.

Of course there are things lacking in me and in process, but he works on those things together with me as we travel along, with kindness and love. God does not do shame. He allows us to feel guilt for our poor choices but not shame. He never tears down who we are like we do to ourselves and allow the enemy to do to us as well. Our identity is safe and secure with God. We are his beloved and he treats us that way.

God promises to never leave us or forsake us. He is so good to each of us!

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
